Here’s a fun idea for tonight’s dinner, burgers without the buns! Not convinced yet, well let’s fix that. These beef patties are cooked in a delicious teriyaki sauce after being combined with both ginger and garlic, with a side of roast veggies sprinkled with sesame seeds. Without a bun, all these flavours shine in the bowl. So what do you think, isn’t this the best kind of burger option you’ve ever heard!
The recent wet and cold weather across New Zealand has impacted our regular supply of fresh ingredients and as such, what you receive may be slightly different to what’s pictured. Don’t worry, your recipe will be just as delicious!

2 clove
garlic
½
Brown Onion
1 packet
beef mince
1
ginger paste
1 packet
teriyaki sauce
(Contains Gluten, Sesame, Soy; )
1 bag
slaw mix
1 packet
mayonnaise
(Contains Egg; May be present Fish, Wheat, Cashew, Almond, Sesame, Soy. )
olive oil
¼ tsp
salt
1 drizzle
rice wine vinegar
• Preheat oven to 240°C/220°C fan-forced. • Cut carrot and parsnip into bite-sized chunks. • Place veggies on a lined tray. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle over mixed sesame seeds, season with salt and toss to coat. Roast until tender, 20-25 minutes.
• Meanwhile, finely chop garlic and onion (see ingredients). • In a large bowl, combine beef mince, garlic, ginger paste, onion and the salt. Season with pepper. • Using damp hands, shape beef mixture into evenly sized patties (2 per person).
TIP: Make a shallow indentation in the centre of each patty to help prevent it puffing up as it cooks.
• In a large frying pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium-high heat. Cook beef patties until just cooked through, 4-5 minutes each side. • Remove pan from heat, add teriyaki sauce and a splash of water and cook until bubbling and slightly reduced, 30 seconds. Gently turn patties to coat. • Meanwhile, combine slaw mix, 1/2 the mayonnaise, a drizzle of olive oil and rice wine vinegar in a large bowl. Season to taste.
TIP: For best results, drain the oil from the pan before cooking the sauce.
• Divide sesame roasted veggies and creamy slaw between bowls. • Top with teriyaki pork patties and spoon over any remaining glaze from pan. • Serve with remaining mayonnaise. Enjoy!
