And new research shows the impact we are making through our partnership with KiwiHarvest, but there’s much more to be done.;
Our research reveals that New Zealand has made remarkable strides in reducing food waste. Over the past year, food waste has decreased by $300 million, a significant reduction from 12.2% to 9%, thanks to the collective efforts of organisations like KiwiHarvest and HelloFresh. Nearly half of all NZ households have reduced their food waste in the last 12 months. Those more likely to have reduced food waste were Māori/Pasifika families, EcoActive households and those who have used recently used HelloFresh. Driving this decrease are rising food prices, individuals buying less food, and better food storage. On average, Kiwis still throw away about 86 kilograms of food per household each year, but with continued awareness and practical food waste solutions, this number is dropping. These positive changes reflect a growing movement towards sustainable food practices and financial savings, empowering households across New Zealand to continue reducing their waste and environmental footprint.
;Do your part in further reducing the cost of food waste with these simple and practical tips and make a lasting impact on the environment.;
